Ombudsmand, professor, dr. jur. Hans Gammeltoft-Hansen
Born 21 February 1944 in Copenhagen

- 1970-1971 – secretary at the office of the Public Prosecutor
- 1971-1974 – postgraduate studies at University of Freiburg, Germany, and at Cambridge University, England
- 1972-1974 – assistant professor of procedural law at University of Copenhagen
- 1973 − Ph.D. (Law), University of Copenhagen
- 1974-1977 – associate professor, University of Copenhagen
- 1976 – Doctoral degree in Law, University of Copenhagen
- 1977 – Professor of jurisprudence, University of Copenhagen
- 1987 – Parliamentary Ombudsman
Until his appointment as ombudsman Hans Gammeltoft-Hansen has in addition been a member and chairman of a number of councils, boards and committees, including: the Administration of Justice Council, the Criminal Procedure Committee, and chairman of the Danish Society for Clerical Law.1973-1983 – Medlem af de styrende organer ved Københavns Universitet.

- 1986-2006 − member of the International Council of Music and President of its Legal Commission
- 1996-2000 – Director of the Board of the International Ombudsman Institute as well as European Regional Vice-President of the International Ombudsman Institute
- 2002 – Chairman of the Danish Public Disclosure Commission
Hans Gammeltoft-Hansen has published a number of books and law review articles, primarily within the fields of criminal procedure, public administrative law and clerical law. He has been awarded the UNESCO Mozart-medal and the Picasso-Miro Medal and is a flutist in a chamber music quintet, the Copenhagen Chamber Ensemble.
Hans Gammeltoft-Hansen is married and has two sons and a daughter and four grandchildren.
